The first full official trailer for The Hunger Games: Sunrise On The Reaping takes viewers 24 years before the events of The Hunger Games.
The new trailer, released on Monday by Lionsgate, follows the release of a teaser that came out last November.
Joseph Zada, Jesse Plemons, Ralph Fiennes, Glenn Close, Kieran Culkin, Elle Fanning, McKenna Grace, Maya Hawke, Whitney Peak and Kelvin Harrison Jr. star in the film. Zada plays Haymitch Abernathy, who was Katniss’s mentor in the original films and the winner of the 50th games. Woody Harrelson played him in the prior films.
Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is directed Francis Lawrence and the screenplay was written by Billy Ray, based on the novel by Suzanne Collins. Producers are Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson and Lawrence.

What’s the plot of ‘Sunrise on the Reaping’?
As we previously reported, the film is based on the dystopian YA novel of the same name by Collins, which was released last year. Viewers will return to Panem, the fictional state The Hunger Games tales are set, this time 24 years before the events of the first movie. Kicking off at the reaping of the 50th Hunger Games, a teenage Abernathy— who, at the time, is just a smart young man from District 12— is chosen for the famous games but must compete against double the amount of tributes.
The official description reads: THE HUNGER GAMES: SUNRISE ON THE REAPING revisits the world of Panem and follows young Haymitch Abernathy (Zada) twenty-four years before the events of The Hunger Games, starting on the morning of the reaping of the Fiftieth Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell.
The film is now in theaters on Nov. 28. Watch the trailer below:
